Turning Old Jeans into a Cute Denim Vest
I came across a cute denim vest online, and it sat on my wishlist for a while before I realized, hey, I should try to make my own...
For material, I thrifted a pair of large jeans, and I sketched my own pattern last summer to sew a linen version. So I reworked it here with just a few adjustments.
These dark spots I didn’t notice till attaching my side seams how the darker blue where I removed the back pockets falls directly under my armpits. So now my plan is to just make faux pit stains trendy.
When you’re upcycling material. there’s a little more “making it work” compromise involved.
I followed a YouTube tutorial for the double welt pockets and took my time on the topstitching. These details make the vest feel a little extra special.
