This week, we drove up to the local mountains in Julian, California to pick apples and watch a cider press in action. October is the height of cider season and there were close to twenty apply tree varieties ripe for harvest at Ranchita del Rio.

If you're headed up to Julian, here are my must see stops in this quaint little piece of San Diego.

• The Warm Hearth of Julian store is right in the middle of Main Street and a literal treasure trove of all the beautiful things from gifts, to kitchen and decor. There are multiple levels and it's a shopping paradise. Their kiddo tent on the lower back level is one of my fav spots. 
• Definitely don't leave Julian without trying some fresh raw apply cider and everybody's fav - the pie. We're partial to the Julian Pie Shop at the end of Main Street. There's usually a line but it's worth it.
• On the way back down the hill, a stop at Dudley's Bakery is a must. Enjoy the veggie sandwich and take a loaf of fresh bread home.
